The Challenge: Bougie on a Budget

Interior design can get expensive fast. That’s why I decided to challenge myself and decorate my living room using mostly items from thrift stores. In the end, about 98% of the decor pieces you’ll see were thrifted! I did add a couple of new items, but the majority came from secondhand shops.

Before the Makeover

Here’s what my living room looked like before. It wasn’t bad, but it felt plain and didn’t match the warm, modern, and luxurious vibe I wanted. I knew I could do better.

The Makeover Journey

This project wasn’t always easy. At one point, I moved all the furniture to the center of the room so I could work freely. Just when I thought I was done, my husband suggested we paint the ceiling — which meant moving everything again! But I stayed determined and kept going.

I spent weeks hunting for beautiful pieces at thrift stores and flea markets. Every item has its own little story, and I loved giving them a new life in my home.

The Final Reveal

And here it is — the finished living room! I’m honestly so in love with how it turned out. It now feels elegant, cozy, and expensive… even though most of it was super affordable.

A huge thank you to my husband for helping me every step of the way. This really was a team effort, and I couldn’t have done it without his support.

  • Console table
  • Coffee table
  • Entryway table
  • Most of the decorative items (vases, frames, trays, etc.)

Many pieces were also refreshed with simple DIY updates. This whole makeover is proof that you can achieve a high-end look on a budget if you’re willing to hunt for treasures and use your creativity.
